Let’s chat about snap

Update season! Snapchat already added their new set of creative and personalization tools, just as the ongoing rally to defend itself against Instagram continues.

This tool set that is boosting up their present arsenal is setting up the new feud between the companies, and since Facebook has several brands under its wing, it is clear that the Clone Wars won’t stop anytime soon.

Snapchat is stepping up today with the odd window of unlimited viewing time for snaps, this is somewhat contradictory to the whole original point of its concept but nevertheless adding the option might not necessarily hurt the core idea of the social network app; setting a snap to limitless state consists basically in letting other view your post for as long as you like, by tapping an infinity icon. Another novelty is the fun capacity to draw with emoticons as a sort of art pencil, along with it comes the magic eraser dedicated to the removal of different added items and objects from your snaps surface, this for a quicker and more comfortable use while customizing.

These news are a clear evidence that Snapchat does not plans to stay behind, battle or not with Facebook – Instagram, the company knows they have a real place in the market that worth any investment and expansion. Keeping the fire alive is their goal.

Looping the competition

Another update comes with the introduction of looping videos concept, a fun activity that consists in a video version of the limitless snap option. How it works? You record a video, and then tap your way through the looping icon, finally it will repeat in a set cycle until the person who watches closes the snap, and that is pretty much it.

We could argue that this update takes a full page or two from Instagram’s Boomerang, which works almost exactly like that, but it won’t matter too much since the former’s owner is doing the same and even worse. The short-form video format in a looping state is something fashionable and a tool people give a lot of use and like.

The new draw mode works directly with the magic eraser, easy as you can imagine, you get a virtual pen that will draw emojis, giving the chance to make something or spell a word by using small emojis to shape it out; like writing love with pure hearts. Whenever something you edited over the snap is not of your real likeness, then give it a go with magic to erase that hideous thing for ever, just rub gently the eraser over the item and the space will be replaced with the background behind it.

All the tools were launched early a few days ago; they are the first three of more upcoming changes to the old and classic Snapchat format. These features are shown now at the right side of the application interface, right there at the preview screen.

Evolving, that’s what any social media should do, look beyond offering profit to companies but also give a good service and let people participate, engage to a better take on our new world.
